The Pump Girls Mission Statement

The Pump Girls are a pop music group consisting of three girls ages 15-18, all of whom have insulin dependent (Type 1) diabetes and wear insulin pumps to control their disease.  The goals of the group are as follows:

1. We aim to inspire young people with diabetes everywhere to overcome obstacles and persevere in the pursuit of their dreams by giving hope and encouragement by our example.
2. We aim to raise awareness of the need for intensive management of diabetes and in so doing help to improve the lives of those suffering from the disease.
3. We strive to benefit the diabetes community by helping to provide insulin pumps and glucose meters to kids who cannot afford them.
4. We choose to participate in advocacy activities at the state and national levels with the goal of improving the lives and prospects of those who live with diabetes.
5. As Pump Girls, we strive to do our best in every area of our lives, both as performers and as examples for others with diabetes, knowing that we are role models for many young people throughout the country.
